I had seen quite a bit of debate on Social Media about if Ubuntu 17.10's UI was either a major improvement on 16.04 and 17.04's UI or a major failing and they had gone extremely wrong.
There are two types of UI people are debating over: The 'Unity 7' theme and the new 'GNOME' shell theme.
Ubuntu 17.10 uses the GNOME shell theme as seen below,

One of the other main features of Ubuntu 17.10 is the new Activities/ Applications menu as seen below:

Although there is quite a bit of controversy about weather this UI change is good or not, I personally think it's brilliant. The new theme really makes all the Windows look modern and fresh, and I believe that this UI change will eventually see a rise in popularity for Ubuntu and possibly Linux as a whole.
There have already been quite a few stability updates, and it's a good idea to install them because it's quite unreliable otherwise.
So my overall thoughts so far, in my opinion it's a very good change, and
I see this helping Ubuntu gain popularity in the long run.
